A special visit for a special little boy

As part of Brighton Beach police's focus on children with disabilities on Casual Day, the women and men in blue invited Liam Ogle for a visit to the station with special VIP treatment and spoils.

CASUAL Day is one of the biggest fundraising projects for persons with disabilities in South Africa. As part of Brighton Beach police’s focus on children with disabilities on Casual Day, the women and men in blue invited Liam Ogle for a visit to the station with special VIP treatment and spoils.

On Friday, 6 September, police members engaged with five-year-old Liam who suffers from cerebral palsy. “He enjoyed the attention from all the staff and members present and was spoiled with a box filled with his favourite treats and decorated with his favourite cartoon, the Minions. He also received Minions novelties which included soap on a rope, toothbrush and paste and Minion headgear. The station also gave Liam an envelope with an inspirational message and a Jet clothing gift voucher,” said Brighton Beach police spokesperson and project manager, Captain Louise le Roux.

Young champ Liam ogle with his father Paul Ogle at the special visit to Brighton Beach police station.

Brighton Beach police launched its Casual Day awareness initiatives at the station on Monday, 2 September, organised by caring members, as part of the station’s community outreach projects. The initiative was hosted in collaboration with the eThekwini Inner South Cluster Employment Health and Wellness (EHW), Brighton Beach Corporate Communications and Liaison Services, in partnership with the station’s Human Resources Development (HRD) division.

Le Roux thanked the HRM staff and EHW for the collaboration which allowed for the station to reach out to a disabled child within the community and enhance education on child disabilities for police members.
