Launching the ward 66 war room

Operation Sukuma Sakhe (OSS) in partnership with the office of the councillor, through its War Room programme, aims to rebuild the fabric of society.

FOR a society to be self-reliant, it is important its members are not passive recipients of services, but participate in interventions which will have an impact on their lives.

This is according to ward 66 councillor, JP Prinsloo, who expressed that through community participation, individuals are able to connect with each other and they will be better placed to make decisions in terms of their individual and collective efforts.
Operation Sukuma Sakhe (OSS), in partnership with the office of the councillor, through its war room programme, aims to rebuild the fabric of society by promoting human values, fighting poverty, crime, diseases, deprivation and social ills, by working together through effective partnerships.

“Partnerships include civil society, development partners, communities and government departments, to provide a comprehensive integrated service package to communities. War rooms link government and citizens by encouraging social mobilisation. War rooms are used to spell out every community initiative and how it could link to initiatives being implemented by the different governmental departments. This platform will provide ratepayers and non-ratepayers with an opportunity to raise their concerns and resolve municipal problems in a constructive manner,” said Prinsloo.

The Bluff community will launch the ward 66 war room on Wednesday, 11 September at 6pm for 6.30pm at Bluff National Golf Course, Club Drive, Bluff. For more information, call the councillor’s office on 031-467-0056 from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 2.30pm.
