#Women’sDay: John House residents enjoy hearty meal

Residents were served a delicious meal under the sun at the centre's garden after the programme.

THE ELDERLY at TAFTA’s John Dunn House Primrose Centre in Wentworth enjoyed to a morning of special treats on Wednesday, 7 August. Aimed at ushering in and celebrating Women’s Month, the day’s festivities kicked off with entertainment by local singing sensation Josh Philander.

“The residents enjoyed the entertainers who were here for most of the morning and really felt uplifted by the cancer survivor’s motivational talk,” said Robyn Coetzee, social worker at John Dunn House Primrose Centre.

She said the plan and preparation for events at the centre is never an easy task, and conveyed her gratitude to supporters. “Stalwarts are always here for just about all our events as volunteers and they work themselves off, without them we wouldn’t manage at all. There’s a lot of work that gets done behind the scenes, and Heidi  Naidoo was putting things together until late the night before,” Robyn added.

Gloria Alexander, Yano Lefleur, and Jean Fynn show off the healthy meal John Dunn House residents enjoyed on Wednesday morning, 7 August.
