Narrow loss for Wanderers

Saturday, 3 August, saw the champion of champions take place at Stella Park Bowling Club.

Awongiwe Somtseu represented the club and progressed until the last 16 where he narrowly lost to Dave Evans 21-18. One game in the men’s club drawn fours also took place on Saturday with Paul White, Geoff Atkins, Denis Hearnshaw and Dirk Roos victorious over Anthony Carr, Russell Shepherd, Peter Prenger and Greg Ferns 25-13. The club will host a mufti-tabs in fun day on Friday, 9 August, on Women Day. Tabs in at 8.30am for 9am start, cost is R20 per person. Friends, family and visitors are welcome. Sunday, 11 August, will also see the ever-popular breakfast trips take place.

Friday’s various meat pack winners were: lamb pack- Clifford Waldek, beef – Jean Bean, pork roast – Mitty Chelin, beef roast – Thomas Simpkins, chicken pack – Jan van de Wall, chicken – Rob Philogene. The R800 snowball was won by Jan van de Wall. The Friday Lotto was a R750 carry over as no one guessed the correct three numbers drawn.

This week’s meat draws, snowball and Friday Lotto will be held on Thursday evening due to Friday being a public holiday.

The club’s function rooms – tavern, upstairs and downstairs are now fully renovated and available for hire. The two squash courts also have some unallocated time slots for members and non-members. Contact the club on 031-462-2320 or pop-in for further enquiries.
