Cloete brothers ride the rapids at Bluff Bowling club

Friday, 2 August, will see the playing of the June Foster/ Glynnis Macrory 3-2-1 killer competition.

Andy and Tommy Cloete took top honors at this month’ edition of the Grand Rapid Spur any pairs competition for July last weekend at Bluff Bowling Club.

Eddie Human and Wendy Fleetwood were runners-up while the first and second session prizes were won by Noel Morel and Glynnis Macrory, and Ian and Wesley Hayes respectively.

Due to the annual Dan Draper and Bergville tournaments being played over the past few weekends, there has been very little bowls played in the club competition side of things. However, Chad Wilson, Eddie Human, Dudley Dorrofield and Durban Wanderers’ Eric Smit claimed second place at the Dan Draper tournament while the following weekend, Gary Moffat and Steve Larkin teamed up with Wanderers’ Jeff Bolt and a Bergville fill in were among the prizes finishing fourth.

On Friday night, 26 July, the attendance draw was not won as Sarie Bisset’s number was drawn, but alas she was not present and forfeited the prize. Gary Moffat was fortunate to draw the chance to locate the ever elusive joker card, but once again it failed to reveal itself and the pot now stands at R9 845 and if not won this Friday, 2 August, it will exceed R10 000.

Friday, 2 August, will see the playing of the June Foster/ Glynnis Macrory 3-2-1 killer competition. Members to have their tab in by 8.30am. On Sunday, 5 August, the Diving Bell any pairs competition takes place and bowlers should be at the club by 8.30am. Members are asked to watch the notice board for upcoming events and postings. It is with deep regret that the club announces the passing of honorary life member, Shirley Bisset. Sincere condolences to Clinton and Sarie Bisset and their extended family at this time. Rest in peace Shirley, your tab will always be in.
