Bluff bowler progresses to women’s open singles

The Fabricon 2-4-2 takes place on Wednesday morning, 12 June.

Bluff Bowling Club’s Phyllis Maritz, booked her place in the women’s open singles final when she defeated Glynnis Macrory 21-15 at the club on Saturday afternoon, 8 June.

Bridget White beat Daphne Reinhardt 107-83 and Sarie Bisset defeated Honey Kitchenbrand 102-87 in two women point singles matches. On Sunday morning there were two nominated mixed pairs matches played and Noel Morel and Bridget White defeated Kurt and Dawn Spack 25-16 while Gary Moffat and Lilah Nel accounted for Jacques Geldenhuys and Wendy Fleetwood 27-9.

The June Foster and Glynnis Macrory 3-2-1 killer competition was held on Friday morning, 7 June and the overall winners were Mark Rodgers and Ashley McIntyre on a 4+44. The first session winners were Dudley Dorrofield and Dave Le Roux with a 2+16 while Gary Moffat and Herbie Roux took the second session on a 2+18.

Ashley McIntyre won the most touchers prize with 10. Reg Behr had a field day as he won the board prize the roast beef and he also had the the honor of taking home the sportsman’s prize. On Friday night, Chrissie Smith won the chance to locate the elusive joker card, but alas to no avail and had to settle for the consolation prize of R50.

George Nel, however, won the attendance draw and pocketed the R140 up for grabs. Next Friday the joker draw will be worth R7 750. There is quite a lot on at the club over the next few weeks and members are asked to diarise the following dates.

The Fabricon 2-4-2 takes place on Wednesday morning, 12 June. The Grand Rapid Spur any pairs takes place on Sunday morning, 16 June and the John Dory any pairs takes place on Thursday, 20 June.

On Saturday, 22 June there will be three rounds of the men’s open singles played and there will be lunches served for those that book with Chad Wilson. Members are reminded of the PNB trips that commence on Sunday morning, 23 June. For hall hire, contact Gary Moffat on 076-680-4577.
