Yellowwood Park WI win prizes at royal show

All members and visitors were welcomed and as always thoughts are with those not present.

GREETINGS from the women’s institute’s president, Sharon Quail with the news that the club has won two prizes at the Royal Show.

The winning prizes were for the staging of stands which had the theme ‘African Sunrise’, thanks to Sheila Philogene who created and staged the amazing backdrop. Many of the members also exhibited at the show.

All members and visitors were welcomed and as always thoughts are with those not present. Apologies taken and the minutes taken as read. As usual the club’s finance is in order and many thanks for the donations towards ‘cake less cake’ and funds for home office. Wendy Henderson and Jan Kirk overwhelmed members with the incredible amount of beanies and booties they made for distribution to the babies at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital. After tea it was time for Angie Michel to teach the art of shaggy craft work with many members participating and promising to return with a completed article. Congress competitions and the upcoming competitions for next month’s meeting were announced. Members are urged to enter the competitions and to properly fill the eco-bottles to the very brim.

Unfortunately, a sad farewell was bid to Alida Pegram who will be solely missed. The club’s vice president, Robyn Murray then read out the competition results. Thanks to Linda Melson for judging the competitions. The meeting closed with a prayer to go well and stay safe.
