False message on eThekwini plumbers doing the rounds

The circulating audio message is misleading and untrue

THE eThekwini Municipality has confirmed there is a false audio message circulating on various social media platforms.

The message claims there are plumbing contractors who have not been paid for the past three months and this has led to plumbers downing tools. It further stated this is the reason burst pipes are not attended to timeously.

eThekwini Municipality’s acting head of communications, Mandla Nsele, said, “eThekwini wishes to clarify that the circulating audio message is misleading and untrue. Since the voice recording refers to a burst pipe in Essenwood, eThekwini has confirmed that their plumbers are currently on site undertaking repairs along Stephen Dlamini Road. The affected area is currently being serviced by a water tanker.”
