THURSDAY, 28 FEBRUARY: The monthly Bluff Ratepayers’ Association meeting takes place at St Gerard’s hall in Sormany Road at 6.30pm. All are welcome.

 

FRIDAY, 1 MARCH: Women’s World Day of prayer will be held at Montclair Methodist Church, 82 Montclair Road at 9.30am. This is an interdenominational service and all women are welcome. Call Wendy Kirsten during office hours on 031-469-0419 for more information.

 

FRIDAY, 1 MARCH: St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sormany Road, Bluff celebrates Women’s World Day of Prayer at 10.30am. All women are invited to join the 89th celebratory inter-denomination worldwide prayer service. Tea and cake will be served after the service. Call Desireé Horstman on 076-704-8686.

 

SUNDAY, 3 MARCH: Stella Athletic Club hosts the Marshalls World of Sport Stella Royal race in Glenwood, with 25km and 10km options. Starting times are 5am for the 25km, and 5.30am for the 10km race. The race fee of R120 for 10km and R150 for 25km includes a moisture management quality T-shirt. Online entries are available on eventtiming.co.za and manual entries are available at both Durban Runner stores in Glenwood and Morningside. Online entries close on Friday, 25 February. Late entries will be available on Saturday, 2 March from 10am to 4pm at the club. No T-shirts for late entries. SUNDAY, 3 MARCH: Every Sunday, the Visually Impaired Bowlers Association has its weekly bowling afternoon at Berea Bowling Club in Durban from 1pm to 4pm. Blind and partially sighted people who are prepared to join this association can look forward to an afternoon of fun and fellowship playing bowls. TUESDAY, 5 MARCH: Stainbank Women’s Institute meets at Woodlands Bowling Club at 9.30am. Members and visitors are reminded that February competitions are now March competitions. The WI hopes to see many members enter.

 

SATURDAY, 9 MARCH: Yellowwood Park Sports Club hosts a park fest with live music, craft market, beer garden kids zone and loads more for the whole family to enjoy on the sports club field from 11am to 5pm. All are welcome. Call Nadene on 083-294-0373 for more information.

 

SATURDAY, 9 MARCH: Kenneth Stainbank Honorary Officer Group hosts a guided nature walk in Stainbank Nature Reserve from 7.30am. Meet in the main parking at the reserve where you will be directed to the start from the front entrance gate when you arrive. Theme of the walk is ‘walk on the wildside’. This will be the first of the group’s medium-paced hiking walks, so there will be some hills on this two-hour guided walk (which may include a trip down to the river). Cost is R40 per walker, children under 12 years pay R20, which includes entrance fee. Call Shanil Balgobind on 072-476-5817 for more information. This year the monthly walks will alternate with a themed walk one month and a two to two-and-a-half-hour hike the next month.


Stamp fair to host evaluations

EAST Coast Stamp Fair hosts a meeting on Saturday, 2 March (every first Saturday of every month) from 8am to 11am at the NG Kerk, corner of Lighthouse Road and Tara Road.

The fair hosts free valuations on collections and there will be plenty of bargains to be found. Refreshments available. Phone Bev on 083-679-4080 for details.


Library starts local author database

SOUTH Durban authors are urged to sign up with the Montclair library local author database.

Librarian Lionel Reddy requests local authors in the Montclair, Woodlands, Yellowwood Park and Clairwood areas to contact him to ensure they are on his database.

Rev your classic at motorcycle club

THE Classic Motorcycle Club of Natal meets on the first Saturday of each month from January to November (December is the AGM) at 137 Tara Road (opposite the traffic lights).

There is a competition for a specific category of classic motorcycle at each meeting.

Owners with classic motorcycles (20 years and older) are welcome to attend and are invited to join the club for a nominal entry fee and monthly subscriptions. Meetings commence at noon and food and refreshments are available.
