Bluff man survives botched hijacking
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder and a second bullet grazed his leg during the incident.
A Bluff man is in stable condition in hospital after a gang of hijackers shot him during a botched hijacking on Sunday evening, 20 January.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathois said the man travelled to Merebank to visit a family member in Darjeeling Road at around 7pm on Sunday, when a gang of four armed suspects confronted him in the driveway and attempted to hijack him of his vehicle. “The man sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder and a second bullet grazed his leg during the incident. He managed to drive away in his vehicle to seek help,” Mathios said.

Mathios said the man managed to drive to the home of another relative in the suburb and he was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

According to Wentworth SAPS spokesman, Captain Mbuso Gumede the victim was taken to Westville hospital and sustained injuries on the upper body. “The suspects fled the scene and the victim’s vehicle was not taken. The police officers at Wentworth SAPS are investigating a case of attempted carjacking and attempted murder,” he said.
