Years of battling to keep the studio open have seen Dance Movement face further funding cuts, waning support from the government and now the strong possibility of the organisation losing its training venue. “We have exhausted all our possible resources to stay open. It’s unfortunate that this matter has transpired to this level which I personally feel is an absolute travesty and unnecessary. Now the youth of the community must lose out on further development,” said director Jarryd Watson.

However, the successful production staged last weekend has lifted the troupe’s spirits and they will host a final fundraiser for the year, a ‘Whatchamacallit’ dance event, where the famous Panzi group featuring DJs Farren and Wayniac will keep dancers on the dance floor.
The event is at 6pm on Friday, 14 December at Fairvale High School. Tickets cost R80. To book, call Dance Movement on 082-683-9665. All proceeds from the event go towards the Dance Movement dancers costs to go to England in 2019, and towards their search for a new training venue.
