Best friends take reins at Yellowwood Park club

Both have the same vision of putting the club back on the map and attracting new members

HISTORY was made at Yellowwood Park Sports Club on Thursday, 11 October when it was announced that the new chairman and vice chairman would be women.
Newly elected chairman, Nadene Lotz, and vice chairman Lynne Cox are eager to start their journey in their new positions and as best friends, this journey will only be another exciting chapter in their friendship.
Both have the same vision of putting the club back on the map and attracting new members, especially younger members to the club.

“I encourage the community to pop in for a drink and get to know us. We have so much to offer as a club. We also welcome ideas and suggestions to make the club better. Right now we have a huge soccer and running section and darts and golf, but we are always looking for new sporting codes to add to the club,” said Lotz.
Cox agreed that the club needs more and younger members to join. “We need to change the old stigma and show we can be modern and forward thinking,” she added.

The two friends are ecstatic at having secured their new positions and see it as a great honour.
“I have been part of this club for 12 years and Nadene for 18 years. We have been best friends for the better part of this time and I believe under our leadership we can make a difference to the club and community. We both have a passion for this club and our dream for it is the same. One thing about this club is, you enter as a member and you leave at the end of the day as family. We will keep it that way,” said Cox.
