The investigation, led by investigating officer, Detective W/O Rico Naidoo and the trio task team comprised of W/O Tiger Ramsamy, W/O Roy Naidoo, Captain Pillay, Constable Shezi and Constable Dlamini led to Gedi’s swift arrest within 48 hours of the crime being reported.

On Monday, 30 July, Gedi was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for murder. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

W/O Naidoo and the trio task team were congratulated for their dedication commitment to bringing justice to the slain woman’s family.

“A detective’s work does not stop once a criminal is arrested. The process of gathering evidence involves long hours of work. The information must be meticulous to enable the prosecutor to present the case before the court to secure a conviction. A bit of evidence omitted could make the difference between a conviction and the criminal walking free.

The station and community laud the dedication and determination of this team. Well done,” said Montclair SAPS spokesman Capt Dereck Vijiam.
