Bluff Road junction upgrade helps #ImagineTheBluff take root

Old trees have been removed from the centre island and new vegetation planted.

A CAMPAIGN has kicked off in ward 66 to beautify key areas as part of #ImagineTheBluff project.
“The aim of this campaign is to restore and amplify the beauty of the natural surroundings within the Bluff,” said ward 66 councillor, JP Prinsloo.
“We will endeavour to change the mindsets of every resident residing within ward 66 to take pride in their surroundings and build a better community for their children.”
The intersection of Solomon Mahlangu Drive and Bluff Road is the first key area identified to kickoff the #ImagineTheBluff campaign. A new lawnbed has been installed, old trees have been removed from the centre island and new vegetation planted.

In the city’s new financial year from July 2018 to end June 2019, the ward will focus on improving as many nodes around the Bluff as they can. “This will be done in the most responsible and sustainable manner possible, ensuring our efforts are experienced and appreciated by each resident residing within ward 66,” added Cllr Prinsloo.

The city is providing the trees and supplies to plant them but Cllr Prinsloo asked for assistance from local businesses and the community to help plant the trees and help look after them. “When we do plant the trees especially in the small suburb areas, we will create a partnership with the residents in their areas to encourage them to adopt a tree,” said Cllr Prinsloo.
In more central areas such as Solomon Mahlangu Drive, the city will pre-dig holes and plant trees but will need the residents to come and assist the councillor and his team to look after the space.
