Women’s open singles final to decide Wentworth’s Champion of Champion entrant

The Game Changers kitchen will prepare their daily specials and the regular pub meals on offer to members and visitors.

THE semi finals of Wentworth Bowling Club’s women’s open singles competition played on Saturday morning resulted in Gwen Tait and Sharon de Kock winning places in the final.

The women will take to the green on the morning of Tuesday, 11 April to decide who will represent the club in the Port Natal Champion of Champions competition.

The first round of the men’s interclub league commenced on Saturday afternoon with the A side playing Durban BC at home and winning both games to take a full five points. The B side travelled to Hillcrest. They won one of the two games but scored the extra point for shot difference to score three points. These results augur well for a good league season.

On Sunday, 9 April the first three rounds of the Port Natal Oppenheimer mixed pairs competition were played. The Wentworth team of Brian Smith and Cheryl Waterman won their section and will go through to the knockout rounds later in the month.

Two days of fun bowls have been planned for the Easter weekend. On Friday players will compete in ‘hot cross bun bowls’ and on Sunday, the traditional ‘Easter eggs for touchers’ will be followed by a family braai provided by the Game Changers kitchen. Fun bowls is a good opportunity for new bowlers to try their hand at the game.

Members of the community who would like to try their hand at the game are reminded of the Family and Friends development bowls played on Wednesday afternoon at 3pm. Newcomers are welcome.

The Game Changers kitchen will prepare their daily specials and the regular pub meals on offer to members and visitors. Contact Marike on 071-594-1225 for further details.

Any enquiries regarding the club kitchen and the booking of the hall and its surrounds can be directed to Susan on 078-277-1826. The hall is available for hiring for private functions and braai facilities are on offer for corporate functions and team building events. The big screen can be set up to watch sporting highlights.
