Disgraceful Bluff verges in disarray

I cannot recall it ever being this bad and no doubt, it is due to the fact that gutters are not kept free of sand, dust and grass cuttings.

EDITOR – The verges on some of the Bluff roads are a disgrace, with weeds growing rampant, especially in gutters.

Old Mission Road going towards Bluff Road readily comes to mind, as does Grays Inn Road.

When driving towards Marine Drive, weeds grow almost knee high on the stretch between Glenardle and Cairn Garoch Roads.

I cannot recall it ever being this bad and no doubt, it is due to the fact that gutters are not kept free of sand, dust and grass cuttings. Left untended, this becomes a fertile breeding ground for weeds which is not only unsightly but also causes damage to the concrete.

Although weed killer is sporadically sprayed, surely prevention is better than cure? Why does the municipality no longer employ street sweepers? One only sees them on the major roads such as Bluff and Tara roads.

With unemployment rife, one would think there are people willing to do what many would consider a menial, yet vital job.
