Calendar campaign funnels almost R1-m to CROW in nine years

Local animal rehabilitation centre is given much-needed funds.

THANKS to the generosity of businesses and the Compass Cares campaign, calendar sales of the last nine years have led to a donation of R915,000 to Yellowwood Park’s Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW).

The Compass Cares calendar campaign, along with assistance from Pinetown Printers, Serco, Capacity and Hino has delivered essential funds to aid in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned wildlife.

CROW director, Paul Hoyte said in excess of 1,300 animals were brought to CROW in the past four months, adding pressure on the already stretched human and financial resources of the  organisation.

“Thanks to many helping hands, the CROW team was able to push through this tough time, ensuring our patients received the best possible care and treatment. Recent rains throughout the province opened a much-needed window in which releases could take place and, over this busy period, the CROW team have returned 802 animals back to their rightful place in the wild,” said Hoyte.

Compass Medical Waste Services, the founder of Compass Cares and the wildlife calendar campaign, thanks all the businesses that have sponsored pages.

“Without the page sponsors, Compass Cares would not have been able to donate R915,000 to CROW to date,” said MD of Compass, Ian du Randt.

“As a company, we are passionate about the well-being of animals, both wild and domestic, and are delighted that our initiative could play a role in helping animals in need,” added du Randt.
