‘Terror’ returns to the wild

Pelican is released into the wild by CROW team.

TERROR, the great white pelican is living a life of freedom thanks to the team at the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW).

Terror was taken into the centre about a year ago from Hluhluwe at the age of four weeks.

The CROW rescue team believed he had fallen from his nest. According to CROW marketing and communications officer, Sharl Els, an inspection revealed Terror had serious muscle injury in one of his wings, which led to mobility issues and hindered his ability to fly.

Following his time in the rehabilitation centre, regaining strength, Terror was released.

“Terror was released into a safe area at one of our regular release sites. CROW is grateful to the various release sites who assist in releases, especially in the lead-up to our release season. Terror is swimming well and doing great. We will continue to monitor him,” said Sharl.
