Open pairs attendance buoyed by voting holiday

WOODLANDS Bowling Club reports on a good turnout for the open pairs competition on Wednesday, which was a holiday and voting day. Many thanks to all who came to play.

Second session winners were Gloria Rice and Sonia Moore on 2+8. Overall winners were Kurt and Dawn Spack on 4+11. There were two money boards, R40 went to Ivor Tobias and Linda Hewer with Dixie and Dawn Spack snagging the R20. Ken Koch won the meat draw sponsored by Yellowwood Park Spar.

In the four swindles, winners were Bill Hewer, Gwen Tait, Linda Hewer and Joanne Jordaan. The drawn prizes went to skips – Margaret Kitchenbrand and Joanne Jordaan and the leads were – Julia Venter and Gwen Tait.

On Thursday it was the casual fours. First overall were Dawn and Kurt Spack, Gwen Tait and Joanne Jordaan on 4+7. Second session winners were Rina Harper, Norman Moore, Linda Hewer and Andy Cloete on 2+8. Ellen Loots won the meat raffle sponsored by CS Solutions. The R40 winners were Arthur Carlyle, Debbie Nortje and Rina Harper and the R20 went to Ellen Loots, Gwen Tait and Eve Godbeer.

On Saturday there was one game of men’s nominated pairs between Bill Hewer and Neville Horner against Tom and Andy Cloete with Tom and Andy the winners.

There was a fun tabs in with a couple of new bowlers trying their hand at bowls. A lot of fun was had by all.
