Burglars make off with valuable bounty

More than R260,000 in items were stolen in July

MORE than R260,000 in items were stolen in July, according to reports released by Montclair police’s corporate communication officer, Captain Derek Vijiam.

On Thursday, 7 July, shortly before 1pm, a door was forced open in a Lynette Road, Woodhaven home. Goods worth R240,000 were stolen, including two flat screen TVs, a DVD player and jewellery.

On Sunday, 10 July between 11.30am and 4.30pm in Delalle Road, Montclair a Sony TV valued at R6,000 was stolen during a housebreaking.

In a separate incident that day, in a second housebreaking in Clair Court, Montclair Road, clothing, watches, luggage, traditional necklaces and towels valued at R7,630 were taken.

On Wednesday, 20 July sometime between 7.30am and 4pm, a house in Cuckoo Circle, Yellowwood Park was broken into. A bicycle and lawnmower were among the goods stolen, all valued at R9,000. Later that day, at about 4.30pm, cable was stolen from the tracks between Montclair and Merebank railway stations. About R8,000 in cables was cut from poles.
