The 37-year-old man was arrested in Auckland Park after intense undercover operations by the elite unit.

He has been transferred to Durban and is expected to be formally charged when he appears at the local magistrate court on Monday.

The drugs were hidden in cargo bags which were mixed with food boxes. National head of the DPCI, Lt Gen Mthandazo Ntlemeza applauded the members for their excellent work in arresting the man.

“As we had promised, we mean business and we will never bury our heads in the sand but arrest and expose those that live in the lap of luxury and profit from the misery of ordinary citizens on the ground. We are not yet finished, we still continue with this investigation until everyone behind this find, is behind bars,” he said.
