Parents urged to attend Parents workshop to help safeguard Wentworth youth

Parents and community members are invited to get more involved in future workshops

A PARENTS workshop was held at Austerville community hall on Wednesday, 18 May.

Parents were invited to the workshop to speak about daily challenges faced in the community, including drugs, alcohol, teenage pregnancy, single parenting and prevention. Guest speakers from different departments including Wentworth SAPS, W/O Ballan Reddy and members from Gateway Clinic at Wentworth Hospital and school principals gave talks on how parents can become more involved in their children’s lives as well as tips and prevention ideas to safeguard the future of Wentworth youth.

Parents left the workshop with mounds of information and life-saving tips and were urged to share the knowledge imparted to them that evening. Organisers and speakers of the workshop urge more parents to take time to attend a similar planned, upcoming informative talk as it could save a life by teaching their children what they learnt.

The aim of the workshop is to create a better and safer future for the community through discussion and action. Parents and community members are invited to get more involved by contacting Audrey Anderson on 081-431-7458. Details of the next parents workshop will be announced soon.
