Scholar’s selfless act appreciated

I took the puppies to Brighton Beach vet, where they were transferred to the SPCA.

EDITOR – Mikayla Wasserman, a Grosvenor Girls High pupil, helped me on the morning of Tuesday, 23 February and I wanted to share my experience.

At 6am as I was driving to work, I approached the bus stop opposite Spur/FNB where the navy duplexes are, just past Bluff Towers.

I noticed some puppies had been dumped on the side of the road. I realised that I couldn’t drive by and had to stop and pick them up. A bus stopped at this time and Mikayla hopped off.

I think I was on my hands and knees, trying to lure the puppies with chicken from my lunch. I probably looked quite crazy and Mikayla could have easily just walked by, however, she dropped her school bag and helped me catch the four puppies and get them into the boot of my car. I honestly couldn’t have done it without her. To tell the truth, I was a little nervous on my own, and I really admire her decision to stop and help me to help the puppies.

I took the puppies to Brighton Beach vet, where they were transferred to the SPCA. I am 100% assured that they will get the food and medication they need and they will most definitely get adopted into loving homes very quickly because they are so cute.

Above all, I saw a kindhearted person who didn’t hesitate to immediately help defenseless animals in need – as well as another Grosvenor girl as it turns out – and I am very proud of that.
