Sturrock Rd going to the dogs

Why do we have to pay our rates and taxes if the municipality can't keep up to its responsibilities?

EDITOR – I have been a resident in Sturrock Road, Montclair for over 30 years and never have our pavements been so bad as in the last three years.

The municipality doesn’t clean our road anymore.

The rubbish has been lying on the pavement since June 2015. I see the truck driving up and down almost three times a week and they even stop at the shebeen during the day, but they will not pick up the rubbish on the road.

Why do we have to pay our rates and taxes if the municipality can’t keep up to its responsibilities? It looks like the street cleaners are paid to just clock in and then walk around and sleep on the sides of the roads. Even the managers get to drive their family around, picking their children up from school, instead of going out to check if the staff are doing their job.

Even when the rubbish truck comes to pick up the black bags, they just leave whatever falls out of bags or the truck on the road. We have been having problems with rats in our area and nowadays, I’m struggling with cockroaches which I never had in the 30 years I have lived here.

SICK AND TIRED
