7 years for injured hijacker

The hijacker was found guilty and sentenced to seven years imprisonment

A SEVEN year jail sentence was handed down to the hijacker who shot himself in the groin on 9 December.

He appeared in court on Tuesday, December 15 at the Durban Magistrates Court where he was found guilty and sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment for a hijacking that occurred on Higginson Highway. The vehicle was found abandoned and the hijacker was found minutes later by the Lamontville SAPS, bleeding from his groin after he shot himself. The case was handed to Montclair SAPS detective W/O Rico Naidoo who ensured the successful conviction of the injured hijacker.

Corporate communications officer, Warrant Oficer Poobalan Marimuthu said : “Management of Montclair SAPS commended investigating officer Naidoo for his successful conviction.”
