Montclair SAPS recover car within hours

A Montclair man was reunited with his car thanks to the swift response from the Montclair Task Team members.

WITHIN in 20 minutes of having his car stolen, a Montclair man was reunited with it thanks to the swift response from Montclair police task team members, Sgt Bernard Wilkens and Const Max Mtolo who wasted no time in tracking down the vehicle on Thursday, December 3.

The complainant, who had his parked car inside his garage in Buller Road, Montclair, went to close the garage door when he was approached by two armed men. They demanded for his keys. “They took the keys from the complainant and drove off with his vehicle. The vehicle was circulated and task team searched for the vehicle,”said W/O Poobalan Marimuthu. The task team proceeded to SJ Smith hostel where they found the abandoned vehicle. “The Montclair SAPS management commends the members on the speedy recovery of the vehicle,” said W/O Poobalan Marimuthu.

On the same day, Montclair SAPS conducted a festive season operation within the Montclair patrol to combat crime. Members from Montclair, Malvern, Bellair, Lamontville, decentralised training college and the Metro Police conducted stop and searches, vehicle check points, visits to liquor outlets and high visibility patrols. Metro Police issued fines to motorists for violating road traffic rules and SAPS members made arrests for dealing in liquor without a license and possession of dagga. “The operation was a success and will be ongoing during the festive season,” said W/O Marimuthu.
