AT Woodlands Bowling Club on Saturday, Bill Hewer and Andy Cloete fought it out for the club men’s single championship.

The guys were neck and neck but in the end Andy Cloete beat Bill on a score of 21-18.

Well done and congratulations Andy.

The women played in a pairs competition with Colleen Blenner-Hassett and Linda Hewer playing against Rina Harper and Lynn Carlyle. Colleen and Linda were battling to find everything on the green, what with the drop in temperature and the wind blowing. They were 11-20 down and slowly started to pick up shots but in the end Rina and Lynn won on a score of 23-20. A lovely game of bowls was played by all parties.

On Sunday the shirts and skirts was played in rather warm conditions. The overall winners were Kim and Lauren Hawkings on a 4+13 and in second position was Richard Hendicott and Chris Kloppers on a 4+10. First session went to Harold Dix and Jo-Anne Jordaan on 2+13 and second session was won by Terrry Brown and Derek Stevens on 2+17. Richard Hendicott won the meat raffle with Robin Groblaar and Chris Klopper snatching R40 each from the money board with Jo-Anne Jordaan and Arnie Harper slinking away with R20 each. The drawn prizes were as follows: Skip Jeff Bolt and Bill Hewer and leads were Chantelle Hearnshaw and William Richardson. Kim and Lauren Hawkins are on the perch for next month’s game.

Don’t forget Wednesday, 1 July is the open pairs competition. To enter a team, call Linda Hewer on 082-724-6575 and on Thursday, 2 July to enter a team in the casual fours breakfast. Call Arthur Carlyle on 076-588-7377.
