Family, food helps Thelma to 100

It has been full of ups and downs, but it has been good.

WENTWORTH’S Thelma Allison celebrated 100 years in style with a champagne brunch among friends and family on Wednesday, 10 June.

Allison, who has lived in Wentworth for about seven years, was joined by a host of women, as she regaled them with tales of her long life and they spoke about how much she means to them.

Granddaughter, Laura Forbay spoke fondly of her and was grateful for the special bond the centenarian has with her own son.

Allison has two children, nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Speaking about her large family, she said: “It is pleasant to have such a big family. I enjoy spending time with them.”

Before retiring more than 20 years ago, she worked as a machinist. Now she enjoys reading and has a passion for watching the food channels.

“I never realised I’d reach this age, but I have had a good life. It has been full of ups and downs, but it has been good,” she said.
