Girl (6) killed by alleged drunk driver

She appeared in Wentworth Magistrate's Court on Monday, 26 January and woman was charged with culpable homicide.

A MOTORIST allegedly under the influence of alcohol drove into two pedestrians, killing a six-year-old girl in Atherstone Road, Montclair on Saturday, 24 January.

A woman lost control of her car and knocked over a man and his daughter while they were walking home from the shop.
The father sustained a dislocated shoulder and daughter died at the scene from head injuries. After a positive breathalyser test, the 40-year-old woman from Pinetown was taken to a district surgeon for a blood test. She appeared in Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 26 January and woman was charged with culpable homicide. Since the beginning of the year Montcliar SAPS have arrested 31 motorists for drunk driving. “Although the festive season is over many people are still breaking the law. They are putting themselves and others in danger,” said communications officer, Lt Leopold Jojozi.
