Hip hop singer’s star is on the rise

Smith’s hip hop genre music featured on Metro FM when the station previewed her songs live.

A FORMER Mowat Park High School is making waves in the music industry with her latest release.
Silindile Madiya as she was better known by her classmates goes by the stage name Viv Vivica Smith.

She has just released her track ‘Studio girl’ on Reverbnation – a website where over three million artists and musicians showcase their talent.
“I have a passion for music and I’m good at it,” said Smith. The 30-year-old started taking singing seriously in 2003 when she studied a national diploma in Arts at DUT. Smith’s hip hop genre music featured on Metro FM when the station previewed her songs live. Speaking of her latest creation ‘Studio girl’ she said, “I think the song will do well. I’ve had a lot of interaction from people overseas, including the US.” ‘Studio girl’ is currently ranked 34th on the Reverbnation local charts.

The hip hop artist’s manager Buhle Dlamini was sceptical in the beginning of whether Smith could make it in the industry. “I wasn’t familiar with her type of music, but after I heard her song ‘It’s alright,’ I knew she was good.’ Viv is a crowd-puller and the reaction we received from the Metro FM preview was great,” said Dlamini.

Smith’s song ‘Shake Your Moneymaker which will be including on one of Yung Joc’s Mixtape in the US. 

The rising entertainer also has aspirations to join the United Nations (UN). “Being a part of the UN is where I want to end up. I want to do my share of goodness and be able to make a difference. I don’t have a limit as to what I want to be,” said Smith.
