Lt Colonel Leon Uys reflects on his career as a police reservist with pride. His most memorable case was arresting a man who had stabbed another man. “The man was charged for assault and imprisoned for eight years,” said Uys.

The 65-year-old has been a Montclair resident since 1990 and previously lived on the Bluff. Lt Colonel Uys’ favourite part of the job was being part of a team, working shifts and assisting his police collegues. “Police relied on me when they needed help and I was always there for them. I enjoyed it. It’s been a good 30 years,” said Uys.
“When people would ask me how I could be a reservist, I would tell them it comes from the heart,” said Uys. He spent 34-years working for Durban international Airport and King Shaka International Airport as a client manager.
Montclair communications officer Lt Jojozi who has worked with Lt Colonel Uys for the past 30-years said Uys performed his duties to the best of his ability. “He assisted us when we were short-staffed. Leon was a hard worker and we will miss him. Management are going to ask him to assist us from time to time. All station members will miss him,” said Lt Jojozi.

Lt Colonel Uys thanks Montclair SAP for having him on the team and for the service he rendered to Montclair SAP.
