Cell mast ‘bells’ are a health hazard

The masts that have already been installed around the city in haphazard sitings, are all positioned wrong in relation to the nearest buildings and schools.

EDITOR – I would like to express my concern about the proposed MTN cell phone mast to be erected on private property at 433 Marine Drive.

I personally do not live anywhere near the proposed site where the mast is to be erected, but out of interest to concerned people, I would like to explain.

The masts that have already been installed around the city in haphazard sitings, are all positioned wrong in relation to the nearest buildings and schools. If attention is given to the steel construction, the mast has a bell suspended from the platform, which is a health hazard.

Are people aware that the ‘hanging bell’ is a radio-active U235 isotope? This technology, of Russian origin, was made to be installed on their submarines in order to amplify the radio signals being transmitted or received.

At present, cell phone companies are in the process of installing new fibre-optic cables all around South Africa, in spider-web spread, in preparation for later high-tech and possibly the removal of ‘the bell’ from towers. All the new high-tech plans are costly and are not yet fully implemented. A year is past and nothing new has happened. People living within a 300 metre radius of the mast are all in a radio-active type microwave situation. It’s big money for cell-phone companies and do not ignore government tax. The person concerned where the mast is set to gain but this ignores the health of neighbours.
