THE Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (Crow) is nursing ‘Mandla’, a banded mongoose who was found abandoned in a pile of rubble at a construction site in Pennington on 9 December.

Mandla, who was a few days old at the time, was taken to the centre by a member of the public. Crow staff members waited for the mother to return to where he was found in an attempt to reunite them, but she was nowhere to be seen.

He was not injured when he arrived, but he suffered from dehydration and hunger. He is currently under the care of Clinic nurse, Sue Anne Shutte, who looks after his well being. Crow receives about 20 banded mongoose year. As mongoose are social animals, they have to be released as a troop to ensure their survival.

For more information on Crow or for animal admittance, call 031-462-1127.
