Montclair CPF empowers youth

The youth were also educated on the dangers of drugs, vaping and consuming alcohol, as well as the consequences of bullying, whether on social media or in school.

IN commemoration of Youth Month, the Montclair Community Policing Forum (CPF), together with various stakeholders, held a visibility awareness stand-down outside a primary school last week.

Jackie Goncalves, the chairperson of the CPF, said that together with the CPF’s youth desk, Montclair police, members of the neighbourhood watches and security companies, they held posters with various slogans, such as ‘Hands off our children’, outside Woodlands Primary School.

“Our goal was to create visibility and awareness that we will not tolerate any form of abuse against the youth. We also had the opportunity to speak to the learners on how they can protect themselves, who they can go to for help and who they can trust. We provided them with emergency contact numbers and informed them of the Montclair Victim-Friendly Facility.

“They were also educated on the dangers of drugs, vaping and consuming alcohol, as well as the consequences of bullying, whether on social media or in school,” she said.
