WATCH: Donate new or used soccer togs to Wentworth youth

Many of the talented footballers are from underprivileged backgrounds and have no shoes, but this did not deter them from playing the sport to keep them busy.

WITH a growing number of young, avid soccer players joining Wentworth’s Blackpool Football Club, founder of Wentworth Angels, Tracey Williams, is hosting a special soccer boots drive for the youngsters.

Many of the talented footballers are from underprivileged backgrounds and have no shoes, but this did not deter them from playing the sport to keep them busy.

WATCH: 

Williams said she hoped that they were not deterred as it gets colder and urges residents to help donate their pre-loved soccer shoes so that the teenagers can continue to engage in sport.

“We need to encourage these young boys to continue giving their time to positive things, especially sport, to takes them away from getting involved in the gang violence and the negative elements in our community.

“Those who have pre-loved shoes which they can play with can donate it to them so that we make them feel supported and they will not stray into the path of self destruction, which many of the youngsters in our community has found themselves in,” Williams added.
