Police seek witnesses of fatal accident on The Bluff

The detectives are also appealing to residents in the nearby vicinity of the collision and have access to CCTV facilities to assist the police in their investigation by providing them with such evidence.

BRIGHTON Beach police detectives are appealing for witnesses of a fatal two-vehicle collision on Tara Road, on The Bluff on February 12, at about 08:00.

Rowan Scandroglio, the spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Medical Services said paramedics arrived on the scene to find total carnage involving two vehicles, a red Toyota Etios and a green Hyundai Atos.

He said a woman,80, was trapped with serious injuries, inside one of the vehicles.

Scandroglio said advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise the woman, while the eThekwini Fire Department used the jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment to try and free her.

“Once free she was rushed through to a nearby hospital for the further treatment. However, she passed away in hospital due to her injuries,” he said.

Scandroglio said three other occupants from the vehicles sustained injuries ranging from moderate to severe.

He said they were also stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.

Captain Louise le Roux, the Brighton Beach police spokesperson, said a case of culpable homicide was being investigated and urged witnesses to come forward.

“The detectives are also appealing to residents in the nearby vicinity of the collision and have access to CCTV facilities to assist the police in their investigation by providing them with such evidence,” she said.
