WATCH: Montclair CPF educate community at crime awareness day

The community was entertained and educated through demonstrations showing how security companies and the CPF handle various situations, including kidnappings and robberies.

THE Montclair Community Policing Forum (CPF), recently hosted a successful community safety and crime prevention awareness day at the Wanderers Club.

Several role-players attended the day, including members of the Montclair police, metro police, ALS Paramedics Medical Services, and private security companies, such as Blue Security, Durban Security, and Pro Secure.

The community was entertained and educated through demonstrations showing how these role-players handled various situations, including kidnappings and robberies in their daily operations.

There were also demonstrations by the Umhlatuzana K9 club, on how they trained dogs.

The day also included music entertainment, various stalls including food and security equipment, as well as activities for the children such as a jumping castle and face-painting.

The community also got an opportunity to meet the members of the CPF. At the end of the event, there was a bag-pipe tribute for the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Jackie Goncalves, the vice-chairperson of the CPF, said they were pleased by the community turnout and support from the various stakeholders.

“It was the first, and very successful crime awareness event in our area. Next year, we intend on having another event, which we hope will be bigger and better. We can only grow from strength to strength,” she said.
