Police arrest alleged murderer and drug dealer in Wentworth

An operation to clean up the streets in Wentworth resulted in one man being arrested for possession of drugs and another man being arrested for the murder of a teenage boy.

IN an effort to clean up the streets of Wentworth, Hawks, Crime Intelligence, National Intervention Unit, Provincial Investigations and Tracking Task Team, National Stabilisation Team, Metro and Ethekwini District Task Team held an operation resulting in two arrests on September 7.
KZN Police’s Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the team proceeded to Woodville Road after they received information regarding a group of suspects who were wanted for murder, attempted murder and dealing in drugs.
“Upon arrival at the identified premises, police surrounded the house. They found a man inside the house, and during a search, 420 capsules of heroin worth R10 000 were recovered, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash. The 22–year-old was arrested for being in possession of drugs,” said Ngcobo.
An undisclosed amount of cash was also seized during the operation.
He appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on September 11 and was remanded in custody until September 19.
The second suspect, aged 19,  was found at another address and was arrested for a murder that he allegedly committed on April 30, 2021, where a 19-year-old man was shot and killed on Woodville Road.
“The suspect was initially arrested on the day of the incident, however, he was granted bail. He made several appearances at the Durban Magistrate’s Court until he absconded. A warrant of arrest was issued by the court, and he was re-arrested during the operation,” confirmed Ngcobo.
He appeared in court on September 11 and was remanded into custody until his trial resumes.
