Dare to raise funds for Cansa

The annual event, which will promote awareness of prostate cancer, as well as testicle, breast and cervical cancer, will be held on Friday, September 30, from Ansteys Beach to Brighton Beach in Bluff.

WITH just a few weeks until the 2022 Hollard Daredevil Run, ambassador of the Bluff leg of the fundraising event, 61-year-old Lawrence Chislett, is daring all courageous residents, both male and female, to join in and register for the exciting initiative.

IN A daring attempt to raise funds for CANSA and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa, 61-year-old Lawrence Chislett will shave all the hair off his body and face when he spearheads the run.

The annual event, which will promote awareness of prostate cancer, as well as testicle, breast and cervical cancer, will be held on Friday, September 30, from Ansteys Beach to Brighton Beach in Bluff, between 09:00 and 16:30.

“I was dared to start competing in this challenge to raise awareness and funds, and I dare all those with the courage to join us. Entrants will be givena purple branded speedo and come rain or sun, we will participate and raise awareness. Seeing that October is breast cancer awareness month, women are also encouraged to join us. After the run, we will host a circle of remembrance to those who have past on through cancer and any other cause of death, no matter how long ago. We will thereafter enjoy a bring and braai,” said Lawrence.

To further pledge his support to those who have been diagnosed with cancer, Lawrence will, once again, remove the hair from his body, this year.
“By doing this, I want to highlight the effect of chemotherapy as this what cancer sufferers go through when on chemotherapy treatment. I want cancer sufferers to know that I am their oncology buddy and that they are not alone,“ said Lawrence.
