WATCH: Bluff schools challenged to help abused and abandoned children

Giving back to children who were abused and abandoned is a great way to build values in learners.

LEARNERS and staff from Brighton Beach Senior Primary School began a drive to collect items for the Isiaiah 54 Children’s Sanctuary in Bluff after finding out they were in dire need of help.
After collecting an assortment of items from a number of learners and realising that the spirit of giving was spreading fast among the children, the school has decided to issue a challenge to other schools in Bluff to join in the campaign and stock up the sanctuary, this Women’s Month.

“We want to be able to build our learners characters and what better way to do that than to get them involved in an initiative such as this. The sanctuary is situated in the heart of Bluff and the challenge to other schools is aimed at creating a culture of giving back and creating awareness on the home and its services. We want to use this initiative to speak out about women and child abuse and we want our children to be able to be a part of supporting these vulnerable and abused children at the sanctuary,” said Naicker.
Ward councillor for Bluff, Zoë Solomon, said she was inspired that the school took it upon themselves to launch the initiative.

“I am proud to be a part of this community and I have a special place in my heart for the Isiaiah 54 Children’s Sanctuary and the children in their care. I hope the challenge sparks the beginning of a great relationship among the schools in Bluff and the sanctuary, who are always in need of support as they are a non-profit organisation who relies on donations and sponsors to continue their amazing work,” said Solomon.
