WATCH: Residents join environmental alliance to hand memorandum to Engen

Pollution, harmful effects on health and traffic congestion were concerns from residents living in the vicinity of the refinery.

DESPITE a heavy downpour this morning, residents from the south Durban area picketed with the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) outside Engen on Tara Road, hoping they were able to stop plans of converting and expanding the refinery to a fuel storage depot.

A memorandum was handed to two of Engen’s representatives through the refinery’s gates.
