The WESSA Treasure Beach Education Centre is calling on all young, budding environmentalists to sign up for its exciting summer holiday camp.
The camp will be hosted over two weeks, from 29 November to December 10.
The aim and purpose of the programme is to create a fun, educational and safe space for children during the festive season and school holidays.
The environment educational programme will run from 08:30 to 12:30 for youth aged between five and 12 years old. It will cover various topics including, sustainable permaculture, gardening, and coastal forest (week 1) as well as rocky shores, sandy shores and mangroves (week 2).
“The WESSA has responsible and knowledgeable guides that will introduce the children to basic environmental education, sustainable permaculture in a fun and hands-on manner. It is a two-week programme divided into two themes. The first is sustainable permaculture involving practical gardening, fun games and creative art and crafts. The second is marine science consisting of exploring the rocky and sandy shore ecosystems, dunes and mangroves and estuaries, plus fun activities and games.
“This programme is an affordable opportunity for children to gain skills such as leadership, team building, gardening as well as knowledge of the marine environment and an unforgettable experience. Certificates will be issued on the last day of the programme,” said Wessa Education Centre supervisor and Senior Education Officer, Kevin Lakani.
