Lessons learnt in hard loss at Sunday friendly

While it was the final friendly of the 2021 season, competitive energies were high as YWP FC Falcons played against Newlands FC.

YELLOWWOOD Park (YWP) FC Falcons took on Newlands FC in a fast-paced game on Sunday, November 14.

While it was the final friendly of the 2021 season, competitive energies were high and had spectators on the edge of their seats.

YWP FC’s Austin Cele and on the ball is Zwelibazi Madiya.

“This was a good opportunity to try different things and give players a run out,” said YWP FC coach, Gordon Jenkins.

The first half saw the visitors capitalise twice on our defensive errors, going into the break 0-2 down.

The second half did not fare any better for YWP Falcons as they were not able to gain possession of the ball. This led to two more goals being conceded before YWP was able to strike back and score a goal of their own. The goal was scored by Floyd Stoffels.

YWP FC’s goalkeeper, Blake Jones

“This gave us an opportunity to push forward try to get back in the game but left space for the opposition to exploit and conceded a further three goals with the game ending 1-7. Plenty was learnt from this game and we will be taking this into season 2022,” said Jenkins.
