Wentworth Bowling Club finals complete

This concluded the club competitions for 2021.

IF a collective noun could be used to describe the recent activity at Wentworth Bowling Club (WBC) it would be a ‘flurry’ of finals as both men and women’s
competition secretaries worked hard to complete the club competitions before next week’s award ceremony.

The results were predominately family affairs when, on a wet and windy afternoon, Eileen du Plessis won the title for the women’s veteran singles championship and, playing on an adjacent rink, her son, Denzil Lewis, won the Doug Mitchell singles final.

Also playing in the wet conditions, father and son, Simon and Troy Garland, teamed up with Willie Meintjes to win the men’s nominated trips final for the year.

The following weekend, maintaining their winning momentum, Simon and Troy went on to team up with Simon’s brother-in-law and nephew, Kevin and Brad Claassens, to win the men’s nominated fours title.
