SANDF honours women in the force

The Half Guard of Honour parade was held recently at the Army Support Base KwaZulu-Natal in Merebank.

IN commemoration of Women’s Month, South African National Defence Force (SANDF) general officer commanding Operation Prosper Support, Brigadier General Molefi Hlalele deemed it fit to host a Half Guard of Honour parade.

The parade was held recently at the Army Support Base KwaZulu-Natal in Merebank, where the Officer Commanding Colonel Matlatso Sarah Ntsewa accompanied the General Officer Commanding during the parade.

Brigadier General Molefi Hlalele shared words of encouragement and appreciation to all the women in the parade.

The parade consisted of SA National Defence Force women in uniform from 16 Maintenance Unit, 17 Maintenance Unit, 101 Field Workshop, Regional Works Unit Gauteng, Army Support Base Bloemfontein, Army Support Base KwaZulu-Natal, Technical Service Training Centre and Main Ordnance Sub Depot Wallmansthal.

Hlalele shared words of encouragement and appreciation to all the women in the parade by emphasising their importance in the growth of a child and the role they play in the building as well, as stabilising a family. The General Officer Commanding furthermore acknowledged their strength and dedication as women in uniform who are now deployed in Operation Prosper also to help provide peace and stability to the province of KwaZulu-Natal following the unrest which took place in recent times.

Hlalele closed the event by encouraging all the women to stand proud for all their efforts which do not go unnoticed.
