AN elderly woman, believed to be in her 50s, was murdered in a reported home invasion on Alwar Road,  Merebank earlier this morning, 15 September.

PT Alarms Tactical Units responded to the scene where authorities were on site. Speaking to the SUN, PT Alarms spokesperson, Dhevan Govindasamy said that it alleged that the victim, her domestic helper and a minor were in the property when they were accosted by three to four suspects.

“The occupants were tied up and the suspects ransacked the house. It is alleged the woman died as a result of strangulation with the material around her neck bound too tight. The suspects fled the scene with jewellery and other items.”
