Man dies in alleged drive-by shooting in Wentworth

Police are conducting investigations and anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the police on the Crime Stop helpline.

A TWENTY-NINE-YEAR-OLD man died at Wentworth Hospital after he sustained a gunshot wound in an alleged drive-by shooting on Chamberlain Road on Friday, 14 August.

Police received the call-out at 4.05pm to find a car parked along the side of the road with bullet holes on it.

“It is alleged that an occupant from an unknown vehicle fired shots at the deceased’s vehicle and sped off along the road fleeing the scene. The victim, aged 29, died a few minutes after arriving in the hospital due to a gunshot wound he sustained. The motive for his shooting is unknown and a case of murder is under investigation,” said Captain Mbuso Gumede of the Wentworth police. The scene was attended by experts and Wentworth detectives.
