Calls to support Fynnland Crest Majorettes

Although the team was brand new to the sport last year, they proved themselves worthy on the provincial and national circuit and are so deserving of an opportunity to compete at the highest national level.

FYNNLAND Crest Majorettes have set their goals as high as their flag toss for the upcoming drummies season.
The team which was formed last year, has grown to 27 members has been hard at work training three times a week as they prepare for their first competition of the season which kicks off on Saturday, 29 February.

“Although this team was brand new to the sport last year, they proved themselves worthy on the provincial and national circuit and are so deserving of an opportunity to compete at the highest national level. We did amazingly well for our first season. Despite competing against teams with years of experience and great skill at the 2019 championships in East London, they finished in 12th place – a great achievement for their first championships.
“This year though, we aim to beat that,” said coach Bonny Fourie.

Over and above training for their first competition, the team also has their sights set on the South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association (Samca) National Championships in taking place in Polokwane in June.

“When their friends are on holiday, at the beach or having fun at parties or with their families, the young women in this team are on the field, training incredibly hard for long hours in heat, rain, wind, and cold. Fynnland Crest Majorettes consists of 27 girls, aged between 8 and 13 years, and require about R5 000 each for food, travel, and accommodation to make headway in their fundraising efforts for the Samca’s. Any contribution towards even one child will make a huge difference to our fundraising efforts. Please help make their dreams come true,” appealed Bonny.

To assist or sponsor the majorettes team contact Bonny Fourie on 072-999-9106 or Sindi Ngcobo on 081-424-7167.
