Wentworth BC’s promotion and development bowls draw a full field of bowlers

Members are asked to check the boards for postings – there are busy times ahead with regard to club competitions.

The promotion and development bowls on Wednesday, 4 September at Wentworth Bowling Club hosted the biggest field this year and is an indication of the number of people wishing to try their hand at the sport.

Donovan Kopke and Vee Husiath walked away with the top spot prize for the day. Anyone wishing to have a bash at beating the bias on the club’s greens is welcome to pop in at 2pm on a Wednesday. Bowls are available.

On Sunday, 8 September, teams from the club travelled to play in the Port Natal pairs championship with mixed results. A few teams lost on count-outs in shot difference but, as always, Wentworth has a success story. In their first game, Matt Lassak and Vic McCreanor ousted last year’s Port Natal champions from Parkhill Bowling Club and went on to win their section and qualify for the play-offs next weekend.

Members are asked to check the boards for postings – there are busy times ahead with regard to club competitions.

The committee and members wish Oom Dirk Venter a very happy 94th birthday on Wednesday, 11 September. May he remain the spritely, determined person he is for many years to come.
