20 tons of litter cleared from Durban Harbour

The team of 80 people filled up 20 one-ton bags which were then sorted into different waste categories to be sent to the depot for recycling.

WILDOCEANS hosted a port clean up at the Royal Natal Yacht club at the Durban Harbour on Wednesday, 1 May.

The initiative saw the WildOceans blue port team, ocean stewards, other WildOceans staff, as well as members of the public come together to clear up the remaining litter and debris that washed up along the port. The team of 80 people filled up 20 one-ton bags which were then sorted into different waste categories to be sent to the depot for recycling.

WildOceans marketing manager Ruth Mthembu fills up her refuse bag with sticks and debris.

WildOceans extends its gratitude to the Royal Natal Yacht club for their support and Supa-Mama for the refuse bags. The 50 strong Blue Port team will continue clean up efforts in the port.
